What is the difference between Developers and Solutions Provider?
Solutions Providers develop, market and sell their Software Solutions to End-Users and return royalty fees on behalf of their End-Users to Royal Mail. A Developer or Innovator develop their Solutions for non-commercial use i.e. they will not sell their solutions.
As a Developer, what if I want to sell the Solutions I have developed?
If you recognise commercial opportunities in selling the Solutions you have developed then you will be required to become a Solutions Provider. You will need to sign up to our PAF Data Licence and Data Supply Agreements, and adhere to the terms set out in the licence. This includes returning the correct licence royalty fee for each of your End-Users. For more details refer to the information within the ‘Selling your Solutions’ section or Contact Us
How do I know if I want sample address data from Royal Mail or Ordnance Survey?
The Ordnance Survey data includes geo-codes and geographic data. This provides Developers with real scope to the Solutions they can develop, particularly if they are considering incorporating location based information. The PAF Sample Data contains just address and postcode data and may be more suitable for those who don’t require the additional geo-codes. Both Sample Datasets cover the PL Postcode Area.
Can I get Sample Data for other areas of the country?
Unfortunately, Royal Mail do not offer this service, we offer the PL postcode area as standard.
What format does the PAF Sample Data come in?
The data comes in a .csv format.
Where can I get help with programming?
Royal Mail has created the PAF Programmers Guide. This contains all of the information that you should need to programme and develop your Software Solutions. If you have any questions please contact us and we’ll do our best to help you.
