- PAF® Public Sector Licence
Royal Mail’s Address Management Unit recently announced that we had reached agreement with the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and Scottish Government on the introduction of a centrally paid PAF® Public Sector Licence (PSL) to cover use of the Postcode Address File (PAF®) in the delivery of public service activity.
From 1 April 2015, all eligible public sector organisations in England, Scotland and Wales will be able to take advantage of the terms for use of PAF® under the PSL. To facilitate a smooth transition to the PSL Use Terms from 1 April 2014, members of the Public Sector Mapping Agreement (PSMA) in England and Wales and the One Scotland Mapping Agreement (OSMA), will be able to access PAF® data within addressing products supplied to them directly by Ordnance Survey.
Below, we have illustrated the four, simple steps you will need to follow to apply and be licensed for the PSL Use Terms. We would encourage you to pay particular attention to what you are required to do before you apply to be licensed, because this will make the process easier for you. You can apply at any time even though the PSL Use Terms do not come into effect until 1 April 2015.
If you are a Solutions Provider then you will see clear links to your Information Pack and to the list of licensed organisations. The Information Pack is designed to help you understand more about the PSL, its benefits to you, along with practical information to help you prepare for the Use Terms being implemented on 1 April 2015.
You will also find a range of useful resources, including our information packs, which will help you understand more about the PSL Use Terms, the benefits and the implementation. At any point that you have questions or need some clarification, we are here to help you.
