Multiple Residence™

Increasing the accuracy of your address database.

Multiple Residence™

A single address does not always indicate one home or business. Multiple Residence™ can improve your address database by identifying separate dwellings or businesses that sit behind a single, shared delivery point. Used with PAF® (Postcode Address File), Multiple Residence™ can help you :

  • Improve the accuracy with the delivery of letters and parcels

  • prevent fraud

  • check identities

Product information

What it covers

Multiple Residence™ will benefit businesses that need to establish an address structure. For example Flat A, Ground Floor, Flat B, First Floor, etc. This is important for premises that have been sub-divided into separate dwellings, such as converted houses, flats, student halls of residence, and nurses’ accommodation. Multiple Residence™ does not include data for marinas, caravan sites, hostels or hotels.

Businesses that benefit most

This information is invaluable for businesses that need address verification for credit scoring, or for preventing identity theft or fraud. This will include:

  • utility providers

  • telecommunications companies

  • financial services providers.

Multiple Residence™ reduces identity theft and fraud by identifying addresses behind the delivery point i.e. the letter box. It also provides a greater level of detail than PAF® (Postcode Address File) –our database of delivery points. Multiple Residence™ is a complementary dataset to overlay your PAF® data.

Where our data comes from

Royal Mail’s Multiple Residence™ file is derived from Royal Mail’s unique network of 65,000 postmen and postwomen, complemented by information from other trusted sources, including local authorities.

Please note: Multiple Residence™ is raw data and contains no software. It is intended for customers who are looking to develop their own Solutions. If you would prefer to license a software solution that incorporates Multiple Residence™, find a supplier at our PAF® Supplier Directory.
