The Postcode Address File (PAF®) contains the postal addresses of over 30 million delivery points, both residential and business. But there are businesses starting up, moving premises, changing their names and ceasing to trade every day in the UK and keeping track of all that can be quite a challenge. PAF is used and trusted by tens of thousands of organisations across the country, to ensure customer orders are addressed correctly and also that people and organisations are who they say they are. So it is vital that we do everything we can to keep our business name information as accurate and up to date as possible.
The Address Management Unit (AMU) is always looking for new ways to test and check our data and we work with other organisations who provide us with information about businesses, which helps us review, verify and maintain the data in our file. We will always rely on the frontline knowledge and experience of the thousands of postmen and women who provide the address change information that is vital to the accuracy of PAF, but this additional activity helps us to target our verification work and ensure we continue to provide our customers with the accurate addressing information they naturally expect from us.
If your organisation has addressing information which you feel could be of benefit, please contact us at amu_communications@royalmail.com
