Recoding Battersea and Nine Elms

Royal Mail will shortly commence recoding some SW8 postcodes within the Battersea and Nine Elms area. This part of London running along the southern edge of the River Thames, is experiencing a major redevelopment with new residential addresses, businesses and even a new tube station being built.

Deliveries to this area currently come from our Delivery Office in SW8 but as there are expected to be up to 20k new addresses created over the next 5 years, it is not possible for all this new mail to be managed within the existing office. As a result, deliveries are being transferred to the larger Lavender Hill Delivery Office in SW11 but this does mean that those addresses currently with an SW8 postcode will need to be changed to an SW11 postcode. This change will be happening during October 2016 and will be completed by the end of that month.

Royal Mail has written to all those householders affected by this change and will be writing again to confirm the changed address. Please be reassured that mail bearing both the old and the new address will continue to be processed for at least the next 12 months.

Should you have any queries about this change please contact the Address Management Unit on 08456 011 110 or email addressmaintenance@royalmail.com
